Why Expand Your Ego?

There is a lot of ego bashing going on in the world right now. And just who is that's bashing the ego?

You guessed it!

It's ego.

It seems that it's rather difficult, perhaps impossible, to escape our projections. Just ask your regular non-dual teacher or consultant (some of our favorites include Adyashanti, Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, the secret Dzogchen and Mahamudra teachers of the world, etc) and they'll tell you that it's extraordinarily rare, at best, for us to ever see someone else clearly, free from projections and past conditioning. Psychologists have been saying this for a little while as well. So here's the deal:

Rather than escaping our projections -- or killing them, dissolving them, waging war with them and so forth -- what would the world be like if we embraced ourselves, if we expanded our ego, if we grew our "self-concept" to include not just our entire physical and emotional body but that of our entire planet and of all the plants and animals upon it. What would our experience be if we identified as our world at large? Some people talk about Big Mind. We here at Expand Your Ego like the term Big Mind but we prefer the term Big Ego. We acknowledge that the term "ego" is a rather new term, one which the Buddha and Jesus and all of the ancients really didn't use very often. But we like it a lot. It feels relevant to our time. And in most practical ways, if we really boil it down to the bare bones, ego and mind can be used quite interchangeably. Why not?

This blog is about what happens when big mind includes the entirety of our experience. This blog is about transformation of self. In other words, we're writing here about big ego.

Cheers to Big Mind, Cheers to Big Ego!

Any thoughts? We welcome your insights and projections. Your thoughts don't have to be humble here, thoughts are rarely humble anyhow.
